About Lucy

Hi, I'm Lucy!
A woman with shoulder-length brown hair smiling outdoors in front of a house, wearing a bright blue top.

I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist in Nashville, and I genuinely love this work. I'm curious about people; what makes them tick, what gets in their way, and what it actually takes to help them move forward. I've built a practice around helping people figure that out.

If you've spent time trying to figure things out on your own by reading the books, having the same conversations, white-knuckling through, and it still hasn't shifted, that's usually a sign you need a different kind of support. That's what I try to offer.

"I help people have a better relationship with themselves so they can have a better relationship with other people and things in their lives."

Why I do this work

That curiosity is personal. Growing up in a family shaped by divorce, I was navigating emotional complexity long before I had language for it. I've done my own work to untangle those patterns, and I still do. My own life has been full and nonlinear, longer seasons of singleness than I expected, a significant shift in how I understand faith, marrying at 38, infertility, becoming a parent at 43. None of it went according to plan. All of it made me better at this.

I say this because when you're sitting across from me in something hard, I'm not just working from a textbook.

I'm working from a real understanding of how complicated life actually gets.

My approach is grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. In plain terms, that means we don't just talk about what's happening, we get curious about where it's coming from and how your relationships are part of that story.

A lot of people come in knowing something isn't working but not quite knowing why. They keep hitting the same wall in their relationships, or reacting in ways they don't fully understand, or carrying something old that keeps showing up in the present. That's exactly the kind of thing we dig into together.

I'm warm. I'm also direct. You'll feel like you can say the real thing in here, and I'll help you figure out what to do with it. I work with clients navigating faith questions and spiritual transitions too, and whatever your relationship with that looks like, it's welcome.

Who I work with

I see adults at just about every stage of life, college students through people in their 70s, for individual therapy, couples counseling, and intergenerational relationship work in Nashville and across Tennessee & Georgia.

People come to me with all kinds of things: relationship struggles, anxiety, depression, disordered eating, identity questions, major life transitions, family dynamics that have been complicated for years. Some know exactly what they want to work on. Others just know something needs to change.

I offer LGBTQ+ affirming therapy and work with people of all backgrounds and belief systems.

People sometimes tell me they weren't sure what to expect, and then they leave the first session feeling like they actually said something true out loud, maybe for the first time in a while or that they have truly been seen. That's what I'm going for.

If you're looking for a therapist in Tennessee or Georgia who will meet you where you are and also push you a little, I'd love to connect.
